Trump says making adviser Stephen Miller White House chief of staff

Donald Trump announced on Friday that Stephen Miller will become the White House chief of staff, effective Monday. The former president posted the change on his Truth Social account, describing Miller as “one of my most trusted advisors.” Miller will replace Susie Wiles, who will move to the Trump Political Operation. Trump thanked Wiles for her service, saying, “Susie Wiles, who has done an outstanding job, will be moving over to the Trump Political Operation. I want to thank her for her service as Chief of Staff — She has done a great job!” Miller has been a key adviser to Trump during both of his presidential terms and was the principal architect of the administration’s hard‑line border and deportation policies, a central issue in the 2024 midterm elections. With the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate expected to come under Democratic control in January, Democrats are widely expected to launch investigations into Miller’s conduct.
