1926: Elecciones parlamentarias en Estados Unidos

In the United States, voters cast ballots on a range of issues in the 1926 congressional elections. In addition to electing representatives to Congress, many states offered voters the opportunity to approve or reject proposed amendments to state constitutions and other constitutional provisions. In California, the ballot included several measures that reflected the social and political concerns of the era. Voters were asked to decide whether to repeal the state’s prohibition law, which had been enacted to restrict the sale and consumption of alcohol. The measure also addressed the regulation of horse racing and mutual betting, proposing to legalize these activities. Another proposal concerned the presence of Bibles in public schools, allowing teachers to read passages from the Bible to students without providing commentary. These ballot measures were part of a broader trend in the 1920s, when many states used referendums to address local and national issues ranging from alcohol regulation to education and public morality. The outcomes of these measures would shape California’s legal and cultural landscape in the years that followed.
