500 ракет Patriot для Украины: США согласовали сделку на миллиарды долларов, но сроки поставок неизвестны

The United States has approved a potential sale of 500 Patriot air‑defence missiles to Ukraine, a move that could bring the cost of the weapons—estimated at $2.1 billion—into the hands of the Ukrainian armed forces. The deal would be financed by Canada, Germany and Norway, with no U.S. budget money used. The sale still requires congressional review, and the timing of delivery has not yet been set. The decision was announced by the U.S. Department of State on Friday, 30 October, following repeated Ukrainian requests for additional Patriot missiles and reports of delays in earlier shipments. The State Department said the sale would “enhance Ukraine’s ability to respond to existing and future threats by strengthening its integrated air and missile defence capabilities.” It also noted that the transaction aligns with U.S. national‑security interests and supports the stability of the European region. Under the proposed arrangement, the missiles would be purchased through the U.S. arms‑sales program, but the funds would come from the Canadian, German and Norwegian governments. Washington’s role is to facilitate the sale, while the European partners would shoulder the financial burden. Ukraine has warned that its stock of Patriot missiles is running low. President Volodymyr Zelensky said in October that the country’s critical air‑defence supplies were dwindling and accused the Pentagon of delays in delivering missiles that had been purchased by other states for Ukraine. The Patriot system remains a key component of Ukraine’s air‑defence, intercepting aircraft and Russian missiles. The announcement comes after a period of strained relations between Kyiv and Washington in October. Tensions had risen over a U.S. agreement with Russia to supply diesel fuel, a slowdown in satellite‑internet services for Ukraine, and a halt to U.S. intelligence sharing. Negotiations between Zelensky and U.S. officials in Oslo on 20 October eased some of the friction, paving the way for the current proposal. While the U.S. administration has cleared the sale for consideration, it has not yet committed to delivering the missiles. The final decision will rest with Congress, and the date on which Ukraine could receive the new batch remains unknown.
