فاطمة الزهراء المنصوري من موسكو: المغرب ضمن أكبر 3 شركاء اقتصاديين لروسيا في إفريقيا

Prime Minister Fatima Zahra Mansouri announced on Thursday, 29 October 2026, that Morocco has become one of Russia’s three top economic partners on the African continent. She said that trade between the two countries reached US$630 million in 2025, with Moroccan exports rising 18 percent. Mansouri delivered the remarks at the third Russia‑Africa Summit in Moscow, where she represented King Mohammed VI. She highlighted the continuity of economic ties between Rabat and Moscow despite the complex geopolitical environment. “Despite a complex geopolitical context, we can express our satisfaction with the continued exchanges at significant levels,” she said, adding that there are further opportunities to expand bilateral cooperation, especially in energy, science and technology. The Prime Minister traced the evolution of Moroccan‑Russian relations back to the strategic partnership signed in 2002 and reinforced by the king’s 2016 visit to Moscow, which culminated in a deeper strategic partnership. She noted that the two governments recently established a joint working committee between their foreign ministries, holding its first meeting in September 2026 to deepen political dialogue and explore new areas of cooperation. Education was also highlighted. More than 7,000 Moroccan students were studying in Russia during the 2024‑2025 academic year. Mansouri underscored that Africa is a top priority in Morocco’s foreign policy, citing initiatives such as the Atlantic African Initiative, the royal programme to give Sahel countries access to the Atlantic, and the Atlantic African gas pipeline linking Nigeria and Morocco. These projects aim to reduce the isolation of Sahel states and strengthen economic integration and stability in West Africa. She stressed that Africa requires a range of international partners, provided that cooperation is based on mutual respect and tangible results. Mansouri called for the Russia‑Africa partnership to move from planning to implementation, urging alignment of Russian‑African cooperation with Africa’s priorities in food security, energy security, manufacturing and technology transfer. She affirmed Morocco’s readiness to contribute its expertise to joint initiatives in these areas. According to the Prime Minister, trade between Russia and Africa exceeded US$27.7 billion in 2025. She said the third summit offers a chance to define the next steps in the partnership, following the previous meetings in Sochi and St Petersburg. Mansouri concluded that Africa, with its natural resources, human capital and geographic position, is increasingly important to its international partners, and that the rest of the world also needs the continent, not merely the other way around.
