Djibouti’s Minister of Communication, in charge of Posts and Telecommunications, Mohamed Abdoulkader Moussa Helem, met with Mohamed Taha Tewekel, the head of Al Jazeera’s Ethiopia bureau, on Sunday. Tewekel is currently in Djibouti to report on the arrival of Yemeni refugees in the northern town of Obock. Additionally, he is covering the extraordinary session of the Council of Ministers of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), which is headquartered in the Djiboutian capital.
According to Minister Helem, the discussion focused on potential collaboration, partnerships, and professional training for journalists. The minister expressed an interest in developing joint initiatives aimed at strengthening the skills of media professionals in the region.
Minister Helem stated that the objective is to move beyond general discussions and establish concrete projects. He emphasized that in a fast-paced media environment, professional training must be prioritized.
