Hong Kong Ballet is set to relocate to the city’s first dedicated dance venue in April 2027. The institution and the West Kowloon Cultural District announced that the company will occupy the new Dancehouse at the WestK Performing Arts Centre for a minimum of five years.
This transition marks the end of the ballet company’s 16-year tenure at the government-run Cultural Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui. The move follows an announcement last December regarding the company’s departure from the Cultural Centre, which had previously raised concerns about the group’s future performance space.
According to the organization, the new venue will allow for a more than 40 percent increase in annual performance weeks. Hong Kong Ballet artistic director Septime Webre stated that the move provides a stable future for the flagship company.
