In an interview with The Sun, Richards described how her sister introduced her to substances including cannabis, alcohol, cocaine, amphetamines, and ketamine. Richards stated that she initially looked up to her sister and trusted her, noting that their mother often believed Snooks was acting as a caregiver while she worked.
The abuse involved the use of chat services such as Chatroulette and Amigo, where the sisters interacted with men who observed them in sexual situations. Richards reported that the trauma led to long-term mental health struggles, including self-harm and two suicide attempts, the most recent occurring in November 2023.
Richards stated that she did not fully process the nature of the abuse until she was 28 years old, after discovering a photograph on her sister’s social media profile that triggered suppressed memories. Following this realization, she informed her mother and filed a formal police report against Snooks in March 2024.
Jassey Snooks was convicted of the crimes in December 2024. Richards, who has since sought professional psychological support, emphasized the lasting impact of the abuse while distancing herself from her sister’s actions.
