El Paso police arrested Christopher Aaron Olivas, a 22‑year‑old resident of the Eastside, on Friday, September 18, 2026, at a construction site on Michelangelo Drive. Olivas faces a charge of aggravated robbery.
The robbery took place on the night of April 24, 2026, at the Murphy USA gas station located at 10300 Alameda Avenue in Socorro. According to the Socorro Police Department, Olivas entered the store, brandished a pistol, and demanded cash from the register. An employee complied with the demand, and Olivas fled the premises in a black two‑door Mercedes‑Benz.
Crime Stoppers of El Paso highlighted the incident as “Crime of the Week” in August, seeking public assistance to identify the suspect. Community members provided information that helped investigators confirm Olivas as the perpetrator.
Detectives from the Socorro Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division, in coordination with the Texas Rangers and the Texas Department of Public Safety, obtained an arrest warrant for Olivas. The warrant set bail at $75,000.
Olivas was taken into custody without incident at the construction site on Michelangelo Drive. The operation involved units from the Socorro Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit, the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Criminal Investigation Division, and the Texas Rangers.
Police Chief Robert C. Rojas praised the cooperation between law‑enforcement agencies and the community. “This arrest demonstrates the importance of strong partnerships between authorities and our community,” Rojas said.
