Throughout the 20th century, the company navigated significant challenges, including the impacts of two world wars and various shifts in ownership. A pivotal moment in the brewery’s history involved the intervention of industrialist Samuel David Alexander, who helped stabilize the company during a period of financial difficulty. Following this, the brewery expanded its operations through strategic mergers with other regional producers.
The company experienced substantial growth in the decades that followed. By 1970, Zagrebačka pivovara accounted for more than half of the total beer production in the region, solidifying its status as a major domestic manufacturer.
