Portuguese advertising professional Nuno Pinhel has launched a new agency, VRTX, with the aim of infusing the Portuguese market with the dynamism he associates with Brazilian marketing.
Pinhel, who splits his time between Portugal and Brazil, has worked on accounts for major Portuguese brands, including Sonae’s retail chain Continente. He holds an MBA from the University of São Paulo and has long expressed admiration for the advanced and fast‑moving advertising landscape in Brazil.
“I always thought the Brazilian advertising market was very advanced and dynamic, and I was sure it would continue to evolve in marketing,” Pinhel told DN Brasil. “The main difference is the client approach – it feels closer to people in Brazil, whereas in Portugal there is a fear of making mistakes.”
According to Pinhel, the agency’s core value proposition is a willingness to take calculated risks. “Portuguese companies are very afraid to test and fail. I want to bring that Brazilian spirit of risk‑taking and create a higher level of advancement for agencies and client partnerships in Portugal,” he said.
Pinhel also emphasized transparency. “We don’t want to do things just because the client wants them for vanity or caprice; we focus on achieving measurable objectives,” he explained.
At present, VRTX is concentrating on the wellness sector, which is expanding in both countries. The agency’s goal is to serve Brazilian firms looking to enter Portugal and Portuguese firms seeking opportunities in Brazil, as well as professionals in health and wellness such as psychologists, surgeons, and aesthetic clinics.
“I want to bring the best of both worlds,” Pinhel said, highlighting his dual experience in the two markets as the foundation for the agency’s strategy.
