Medz Boss takes legal step against Al-Rawi over alleged statements

Trinidad and Tobago artiste Medz Boss, whose real name is Joseph Oliviere, has taken legal action against former Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi over statements he alleges were defamatory and “maliciously false”.

A pre-action protocol letter was served on Al-Rawi on Monday, September 14, 2026.

The development comes months after Medz Boss was detained under a Preventive Detention Order during the State of Emergency.

That order contained allegations concerning alleged gang and criminal activity. Those claims were allegations and did not constitute findings of guilt.

Medz Boss’s Preventive Detention Order was later revoked in August.

The specific statements attributed to Al-Rawi that prompted the latest legal action have not yet been independently established by TG News.

A pre-action letter gives a recipient notice of a potential legal claim and an opportunity to respond before possible court proceedings.

The filing does not mean a lawsuit has been initiated or that the allegations have been proven.

TG News will provide further details as they become available.

This is a developing story.
