The Danish Chamber of Commerce (DanCham) Malaysia, in partnership with the Danish Embassy, has announced the launch of the Green Denmark Malaysia Awards. The initiative aims to recognize Danish-linked businesses and partners that are contributing to sustainability, economic resilience, and energy transition efforts within Malaysia.
The announcement was made by Pearl Lai, Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Director at Carlsberg Malaysia and chairperson of DanCham, during the inaugural Green Denmark Day held in Kuala Lumpur on September 11, 2026. According to the chamber, the awards are intended to highlight organizations that support Malaysia’s green transition and societal well-being.
The program will feature five award categories: Climate Action and Resilience, Innovation Acceleration, Job Creation and Talent Development, Economic Growth Champion, and the Danish Impact and Leadership Award. While the awards will prioritize members of the Danish Chamber of Commerce, eligible Danish-linked non-members are also invited to submit nominations. The chamber stated that shortlisted candidates will be subject to a public voting process.
The framework for the awards is currently in the conceptualization stage. The initiative serves as a component of a broader two-year bilateral engagement between Denmark and Malaysia, which was formalized through the Green Transition Alliance (GTA) in December 2024.
The GTA has facilitated several activities since its inception, including corporate strategy alignment, diplomatic engagements, and business missions to regions such as Sarawak to explore partnerships in biodiversity and green energy. Previous sessions under this bilateral framework have addressed topics including energy-efficient urban infrastructure, green building design, and sustainable resource management.
