On 9 September 2026, INDOI Ltd. (IOX), Blue Trade Investments Limited, and a consortium of partners officially launched the Lulu submarine cable system at the ITW Africa 2026 conference in Nairobi, Kenya.
The Lulu cable is purpose‑built for Kenya’s Indian Ocean coastline. It links the port city of Mombasa to the northern town of Lamu through five strategically placed landing stations, providing high‑capacity connectivity along the Kenyan coast.
According to the launch announcement, the new cable will support the digital transformation of key economic zones, including the Vipingo Special Economic Zone and the LAPSSET corridor that connects Nairobi to Mombasa. The project is expected to enhance broadband services and foster economic growth in the region.
The launch was reported by the African Media Agency and published on the Global News Network Liberia website.
