**Two Men Arrested After €230,000 Cannabis Seizure in Galway**

Two men have been arrested following a Garda operation in County Galway that resulted in the seizure of an estimated €233,000 worth of suspected cannabis.

The operation, conducted on Saturday, August 15, 2026, was carried out by the Galway Divisional Drugs Unit as part of ongoing investigations into the sale and supply of controlled drugs in the region.

During a search under warrant at a residence in Roscam, Gardaí seized cannabis herb with an approximate value of €122,000. A subsequent follow-up search under warrant at a property in the Castlepark area of Galway led to the recovery of an additional €111,000 in suspected cannabis herb.

Two men, one aged in his 40s and the other in his 50s, were arrested in connection with the seizures. They are currently being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda station in the North Western Region.

The seized substances have been sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for formal analysis.

Gardaí stated that the operation was part of Operation Tara, an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy launched by the Garda Commissioner in July 2021. The strategy aims to disrupt, dismantle, and prosecute drug trafficking networks operating at local, national, and international levels.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
