**GURIA, Georgia** — Georgian authorities have detained the driver of a minibus following a fatal crash that resulted in the deaths of four Belarusian citizens and left 17 others injured on August 12. The incident was confirmed to *Civil.ge* by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to media reports, the vehicle was traveling from Gomismta, a popular mountain resort in the western Guria region, toward the administrative center of Ozurgeti. The driver reportedly lost control of the minibus, causing it to plunge off the road.
Seventeen people sustained injuries and were subsequently hospitalized. Mikheil Sarjveladze, the Minister of Health, visited the injured victims in the hospital.
The driver, a Georgian citizen who managed to jump from the vehicle before it went off the road, was also hospitalized in Kobuleti. According to *Interpressnews*, he remains at the facility under police escort.
The investigation is being conducted under Article 276, paragraph 6 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which addresses violations of traffic safety or vehicle operation rules that result in death.
