National Youth Challenge Gives Young Artistes Chance to Record Professionally
Young people across Trinidad and Tobago are being invited to put their talent on display for a chance to win professional studio production through a National Youth Challenge being launched today, International Youth Day.
The challenge forms part of the LEVEL UP campaign, an online youth-awareness initiative using music, social media and local artistes to encourage positive social norms and behaviours among young people.
At the centre of the challenge is the LEVEL UP Riddim, produced by Kit Israel and featuring Trini Baby and Aaron Duncan.
But there’s room for new voices.
Young people across Trinidad and Tobago will be invited to create their own material on the LEVEL UP Riddim and share their talent online as part of the national challenge.
At the end of the competition, one male and one female winner will receive full studio production to record their songs on the LEVEL UP Riddim.
The initiative is being rolled out today, August 12, as Trinidad and Tobago joins the international community in observing International Youth Day, an annual occasion highlighting the contributions, potential and challenges of young people.
LEVEL UP is taking a different approach to youth awareness by using music and online participation to get young people involved rather than simply presenting them with traditional campaign messages.
Trini Baby and Aaron Duncan have each recorded a verse on the riddim, providing the foundation for young participants to add their own creativity and voices to the project.
The National Youth Challenge will be promoted online, allowing young people from across Trinidad and Tobago to participate and helping the campaign’s wider message reach audiences through social media.
For aspiring artistes, it also presents an opportunity to have their talent heard and potentially take the next step from creating content online to recording professionally in a studio.
Details on how to enter the National Youth Challenge, including submission requirements and deadlines, are expected to be released through the LEVEL UP campaign’s online platforms.
As the country celebrates International Youth Day, the challenge is putting young people at the centre of the message — giving them an opportunity to create, participate and LEVEL UP.
