Guyana’s Maritime Administration (MARAD) should restructure to focus exclusively on safety, according to Dr. Ivor English, the former director general of the regulatory agency. Dr. English suggested that MARAD’s current scope may be too broad, and that the agency should prioritize safety above other unrelated areas. He recommended that considerations be made for a transition to allow MARAD to focus primarily on safety.
