Bangladesh has requested India to increase its diesel exports through the existing cross-border pipeline, as part of efforts to enhance energy cooperation between the two countries.

The request was made during a meeting between Bangladesh’s Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud, and the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Dines Tridevi, at the Secretariat.

According to Minister Mahmud, the meeting was a routine bilateral engagement, during which the two sides discussed various issues of mutual interest, including energy cooperation. Mahmud stated that Bangladesh had asked India to increase diesel supplies through the pipeline.

When asked about the significance of the meeting, the Minister described it as part of regular diplomatic consultations between the two countries, noting that he had met with the Indian High Commissioner on several previous occasions.

The discussion highlights the ongoing efforts by Bangladesh and India to strengthen their energy cooperation, with the cross-border pipeline playing a key role in their bilateral energy trade.
