Timmins Athlete Wins Bronze at Ontario Summer Games

Quinn Wessman of Timmins has won a bronze medal at the 2026 Ontario Summer Games, held in Waterloo. Wessman, competing as the anchor for Team Northern Lights, earned the medal in the 1,600 metre sprint medley relay in the under-14 girls division. Her teammates included Aria MacLary, Pia Kash, and Maria Lapshykova, all from Greater Sudbury.

The 1,600 metre sprint medley relay consists of four segments, with the first runner covering 400 metres, the next two runners covering 200 metres each, and the anchor running 800 metres. In addition to her relay medal, Wessman also competed in the 800 metre and 1,200 metre track events, achieving personal best times in both.

Wessman noted that a highlight of her experience was meeting and receiving coaching from Robert Esmie, a member of Canada’s gold medal-winning 4×100 relay team at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.
