A high-level meeting convened by the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (OPMC) has marked a significant step forward in advancing judicial autonomy reforms in Solomon Islands. The meeting, held yesterday through OPMC’s Policy Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation Unit (PIMEU), brought together key stakeholders including the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs (MJLA), the National Judiciary, and the Ministry of Finance and Treasury (MoFT).
The dialogue focused on reviewing the progress made on judicial autonomy reforms and reaching consensus on the path forward. Participants agreed on a series of next steps designed to strengthen the independence of the judiciary, a cornerstone of democratic governance and the rule of law.
