Armenia’s newly elected National Assembly will convene for its first sitting on August 2 at 10:00 a.m., Central Electoral Commission (CEC) Chairman Vahagn Hovakimyan announced on Monday.
Hovakimyan said the date was set in accordance with Article 100(1) of Armenia’s Electoral Code, following the June 7 parliamentary elections.
The first sitting marks the formal start of the new legislative term, during which deputies will elect the speaker and form parliamentary committees. The composition of the new government is expected to be finalized in the weeks ahead.
All eyes will be on the new parliament as it begins its work amid ongoing regional and domestic challenges.
