U.S. Vice President JD Vance has been accused of channeling anti-Jewish tropes in his attacks on Israel, according to a column by conservative commentator Melanie Phillips. Writing for JNS, Phillips argued that Vance’s criticism of Israel, including his response to a TIME magazine report, echoes conspiracy theories of Jewish manipulation and warmongering. The TIME report claimed Israel funded an influence campaign organized by former Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale. Parscale denied the interpretation, but an anonymous U.S. intelligence official told TIME that American influencers were being paid to change the president’s views. Phillips asserted there is no evidence for the conspiracy theory and accused Vance of scapegoating Jews.
