Two Venezuelans were attacked early Friday morning in Sparendaam, East Coast Demerara, resulting in the theft of their motorcycle, according to a statement from the Guyana Police Force. The incident occurred around 4 AM, and as of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the case.
Investigators reported that the motorcycle belonged to a 22-year-old Venezuelan man who resides in Sparendaam. The victims were traveling home on the motorcycle when they were confronted by two males on another motorcycle.
According to police reports, one of the suspects, who was armed with a cutlass, dismounted from his motorcycle and approached the victims. During the confrontation, one of the victims attempted to engage the armed suspect in a scuffle. However, the armed suspect managed to take control of the victims’ motorcycle, while the second suspect mounted the motorcycle they had arrived on.
The two suspects then fled the scene in an eastern direction on the two motorcycles. The police are currently investigating the incident and are seeking any information that may lead to the identification and apprehension of the suspects.
Authorities encourage anyone with information regarding the robbery to come forward. The police continue to monitor the situation and are working to ensure the safety of residents in the area.
