Guyana: GNBS to Calibrate Tint and Sound Meters for Traffic Law Enforcement

The Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS) has announced plans to calibrate approximately 250 tint meters and 12 sound level meters that are utilized by the Guyana Police Force (GPF). This initiative is set to commence on July 13 and aims to enhance the accuracy and reliability of the equipment used in traffic law enforcement.

The calibration process is part of GNBS’s ongoing efforts to ensure that law enforcement tools meet established standards, thereby improving the effectiveness of traffic regulations. The tint meters are specifically used to measure the level of tint on vehicle windows, while the sound level meters are employed to assess noise levels from vehicles, particularly in relation to compliance with noise regulations.

GNBS has emphasized the importance of maintaining precise measurements in these areas to support law enforcement activities and promote road safety. The calibration exercise will be conducted by trained personnel from GNBS, ensuring that all equipment is functioning correctly and providing accurate readings.

This initiative reflects the commitment of both GNBS and GPF to uphold traffic laws and enhance public safety on the roads. Further details regarding the calibration schedule and locations will be provided by GNBS in due course.
