A planned sale on Facebook Marketplace turned into a nightmare for a Laventille man on March 27th, 2026. The man was intending to sell an Apple MacBook Pro and a pair of AirPods, collectively valued at about $16,000. However, the supposed buyer had other plans. Armed with a knife, the suspect demanded the victim hand over the electronics. Fearing for his safety, the seller complied, and the suspect fled the scene on foot.
The suspect was described as a slim-built man of African descent, standing about 5 feet 8 inches tall with short curly hair. A distinguishing feature was a noticeable gap between his front teeth, earning him the moniker ‘space tooth.’
In a possibly connected incident just a day earlier, a similar robbery took place in Port of Spain. A driver-for-hire was robbed by a passenger who shared physical similarities with the ‘space tooth’ suspect, including the distinctive gap-toothed feature. The passenger, armed with a knife, demanded the driver’s belongings before making his escape.
These two incidents have raised concerns about a potential link between the robberies, with the distinctive gap-toothed feature serving as a common identifier. Police are currently investigating both cases, diligently working to establish any connections and bring the suspect or suspects to justice.
