The government bench in the Upper House remains quiet as multiple senators refuse to disclose the identities of two independent senators implicated in an accusation made by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar. The allegation revolves around the independent senators soliciting personal favors for their support of the Zones of Special Operations (ZOSO) bill. This controversy comes after the ZOSO bill was rejected by a nearly unanimous vote from the independent bench. The Prime Minister has yet to name the accused senators despite her previous criticism of the independent bench and allegations of serious legal misconduct. Attempts by Guardian Media to get comments from several government senators were largely unsuccessful.
