The High Court has dismissed a defamation lawsuit against Energy and Energy Industries Minister, Dr Roodal Moonilal. The lawsuit, which was brought by an investment company, was struck out due to prolonged delays and the company’s repeated failures to comply with court orders. The decision was delivered by Justice Frank Seepersad. The court also ordered the claimant, Trillions Investment Ltd, to cover Moonilal’s legal costs. The company’s attorney, Farai Hove Masaisai, formally applied to withdraw from the case, with no reason given. Neither the company’s director, Kerron Rose, nor its representatives were present at the hearing. Moonilal was represented by Senior Counsel Anand Ramlogan and attorney Jared Jagroo.
