New Coat of Arms to Feature on ‘Series 2026’ Banknotes

The Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago has confirmed plans to introduce a new Coat of Arms on its banknotes, starting with the ‘Series 2026’ $100 bill from August 2026. Following the introduction, all banknotes and coins featuring the old Coat of Arms will be gradually phased out. The old notes and coins will remain legal tender until January 2031 or potentially later if extended by the Finance Minister. The new Coat of Arms became valid in February 2025, but the old one remains valid until 2031. The new ‘Series 2026’ $100 note will replace the current 2019 version and will incorporate advances in printing technology and anti-counterfeiting features. The bank will also launch a public education currency campaign to familiarize the public with the new denomination and its features.
