U.S. Bolsters Support for Guyana Amid Venezuela Tensions

President Irfaan Ali of Guyana recently met with senior officials from the United States Department of War, marking a significant moment in the rising regional tensions with Venezuela. The meetings, attended by U.S. Ambassador Nicole Theriot and Guyanese officials, aimed to reinforce the strategic partnership between the two countries, as well as expand cooperation on regional security. The U.S. has repeatedly affirmed its commitment to defending Guyana’s sovereignty, and these recent engagements are seen as a testament to that pledge.
