**Heavy Traffic and Delays Reported as Travelers Return from Holiday**
Bulgaria experienced significant traffic congestion on September 7, 2026, as thousands of travelers returned to major cities following the final day of the holiday period.
Motorists reported substantial delays, with travel times from Kiten to Sofia reaching approximately five hours. Authorities noted that the most intense traffic was concentrated on the Trakia motorway, where long queues formed throughout the day.
In response to the increased volume of vehicles, law enforcement agencies deployed over 700 police teams across the country. These units, supported by drone surveillance, were tasked with monitoring traffic flow and enforcing road safety regulations.
Reports indicated that the return journey was further complicated by several traffic accidents occurring on major motorways.
