**PDP Chieftain Lere Olayinka Predicts Easier Path for Tinubu in 2027 Election**
Lere Olayinka, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has stated that President Bola Tinubu will face a less challenging path to victory in the 2027 presidential election compared to the 2023 contest.
Speaking during an interview on TVC Breakfast on Monday, Olayinka attributed his assessment to the president’s governance performance and his strategic political alliances. He argued that President Tinubu has successfully integrated influential opposition figures into his administration, thereby weakening the potential for a unified opposition.
“The reason this election of 2027 will be a one-way election is because of the performance of the president in terms of national development and his performance in terms of politics,” Olayinka said. “It will be much easier for the president than the 2023 election. That is a fact that most people are not willing to accept.”
Olayinka specifically highlighted the role of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. Despite Wike remaining a member of the PDP, he has maintained a close working relationship with the Tinubu administration. Olayinka suggested that had Wike not aligned with the president, he could have been a significant force in galvanizing support for the PDP.
“If Wike was not working with the president, probably he would have been galvanizing more support for the PDP. Now he is not. The president has been able to bring him and other people to himself,” Olayinka noted.
Furthermore, Olayinka discussed the potential for fragmented opposition in 2027, citing the political stances of governors such as Alex Otti of Abia State and Ademola Adeleke of Osun State. He suggested that if opposition figures continue to support different political parties, it would further diminish the strength of the opposition’s mobilization efforts.
Olayinka concluded that President Tinubu’s willingness to collaborate across political divides has created a more favorable political environment for his administration. He urged the public to recognize the impact of Wike’s support for the president, noting that such alliances have made both governance and political maneuvering easier for the current administration.
