In connection with the shocking discovery of multiple human remains at the Cumuto Cemetery last Saturday, two men have been detained for questioning. The men, aged 18 and 25, were employees of a funeral home in Arima and claimed they were hired to dig a grave for a pauper’s funeral.
The discovery was made when a local man tending to his garden near the Cumuto Cemetery noted the grave diggers’ activity and enquired about the deceased. The information he received subsequently triggered an extensive forensic investigation.
Police have revealed that a total of 56 bodies have been unearthed thus far, consisting of 50 infants, four adult males, and two adult females. The suspects reportedly told the gardener they had come to ‘dispose of some children bodies.’ This alarming statement has further intensified the ongoing investigation.
