A St. James businesswoman fell victim to a counterfeit currency scam, losing a significant amount of money in a two-day foreign exchange transaction. The woman conducted two monetary exchanges with a female suspect at her business along Western Main Road, St. James. In total, she handed over $28,000 TTD and received $4,000 USD in return. However, upon visiting the First Citizens Bank to verify the US notes, she was informed that all the money she received was counterfeit. Efforts to reach the female suspect following the revelation have proven futile.
