Man Attempts Eight-Day Survival Challenge Along Remote Trinidad Coastline

Trinidadian Survives Eight Days Alone Along Remote Coastline

Eight miles from civilization. No food. No drinking water. No fire. No shelter.

Those were the conditions Trinidadian outdoorsman and content creator **Timothy Ramai** willingly accepted as he embarked on an ambitious eight-day solo survival challenge along one of Trinidad’s most remote coastlines.

“I traveled eight miles along a very remote coastline in Trinidad to survive for the next eight days with absolutely no food, water, fire, or shelter,” Ramai explained at the start of the challenge. “For the next handful of days, I will be challenging myself to endure hardship. I will be hunting along the coastline using primitive methods to survive, looking for resources and anything I can use to help me. The main goal is to survive.”

From the moment he arrived, Ramai faced the reality of surviving with almost nothing. The four essentials for survival—food, water, shelter and fire—had to be found or created from the surrounding environment. With rough seas making conditions unsafe for spearfishing, he was forced to quickly adapt his strategy and rely on whatever the coastline could provide.

His first breakthrough came when he discovered fresh flowing streams and an abundance of coconut trees, giving him access to drinking water. He then gathered branches and coconut leaves to construct a simple shelter, which would become his home for the next eight days and withstand heavy rain and cold nights.

Finding food proved to be a daily challenge.

Ramai spent hours walking rocky shorelines at low tide collecting mussels, catching fish with a rod, climbing coconut trees for food and water, and preparing everything over an open fire he built himself. On different days he survived on mussels, roasted fish, stingray and coconuts, often burning more energy searching for food than he gained from eating it. As the challenge progressed, exhaustion began setting in, with Ramai admitting that every meal required significant physical effort.

The journey also produced remarkable wildlife encounters.

During one night, he watched leatherback turtles emerge from the sea to lay their eggs along the beach. Rather than disturb the animals, Ramai kept his distance and limited his use of light, describing the experience as one of the highlights of the expedition. Throughout the challenge, Trinidad’s rugged coastline revealed an abundance of marine life, native plants and untouched natural beauty.

Despite the physical hardships, the experience became much more than a survival exercise.

Spending long nights completely alone gave Ramai time to reflect on life, gratitude and faith. He spoke openly about how the isolation strengthened his relationship with God and reminded him that people often need far less than they think to live a meaningful life.

By the eighth day, Ramai had successfully completed the challenge.

Looking back on the experience, he said surviving with only the bare essentials gave him a deeper appreciation for everyday comforts and reinforced the importance of perseverance, preparation and gratitude. He described the challenge as difficult but worthwhile, adding that it is an experience he hopes to undertake again in the future.

Premiering on **June 2, 2026**, the documentary has attracted just over **54,000 views** on YouTube at the time of this article, where Ramai shares outdoor adventures and survival content with his growing audience.

For many viewers, the challenge is about more than simply surviving eight days in the wilderness. It is a story of resilience, resourcefulness and the ability to adapt under pressure—showcasing both the breathtaking beauty of Trinidad’s remote coastline and the determination required to survive when nature becomes your only source of food, water and shelter.
