Magnitude 3.5 Earthquake Strikes Near Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela

On July 2, 2026, an earthquake struck at 03:48 am local time (07:48 UTC). The quake, with a magnitude of 3.5, was centered at a latitude of 10.57N and a longitude of 62.43W, at a depth of 63 km. The tremor was felt in several nearby cities, including Carúpano, Venezuela, which is 89 km east of the epicenter, and Port of Spain and San Fernando in Trinidad and Tobago, 102 km and 113 km west and west-northwest of the epicenter respectively. The quake’s preliminary location was automatically calculated by computer algorithms. This data is, however, subject to potential revisions as it is currently under review by Seismic Research Center (SRC) analysts. Residents of the affected areas are advised to stay alert for further updates.
