During his address, Ali urged both nations to protect their relationship from any elements that may attempt to disrupt their progress. Looking ahead, Ali expressed a desire to enhance security cooperation with the United States, clarifying that the goal is to promote peace rather than aggression. He stated, “The cooperation is not sought for aggressive purposes. We harbor no ambitions beyond our borders, and we seek no domination over others.”
Ali further explained that the partnership aims to safeguard Guyana’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and natural resources from external coercion or intimidation. He reiterated Guyana’s commitment to peace, stability, and development for its citizens, while also striving to be a good neighbor and a responsible global citizen.
In his remarks, Ali described Guyana’s diplomatic approach as straightforward and based on clear principles, asserting that countries sharing geographic space with Guyana can rely on its support for international law, democracy, and the rule of law.
