Guyana: Passport Offices To Open On Saturdays In June To Clear Backlog

The Guyana Police Force’s Immigration Department has announced that several regional passport offices will be open on Saturdays throughout June 2026. This initiative aims to address a backlog of uncollected travel documents by providing additional opportunities for applicants to collect their passports.

The Saturday openings will begin on June 6, 2026, with designated offices operating from 09:00 hours to 15:00 hours. This schedule is specifically for citizens who have missed their original passport collection appointments and have overdue collection slips.

Immigration officials stated that the weekend service is designed to improve overall service delivery and reduce the number of uncollected passports. By offering collection times outside of regular weekday hours, the department hopes to assist busy professionals and families in securing their travel documents without needing to take time off work.

Eligible applicants are encouraged to take advantage of the Saturday openings. The service will be available at various locations across the country, including both established regional passport offices and specialized Government Service Centers.

  • Demerara-Mahaica (Region 4) – Central Georgetown Passport Office
  • Upper Demerara-Berbice (Region 10) – Linden Passport Office
  • East Berbice-Corentyne (Region 6) – New Amsterdam Office & Port Mourant GSC
  • Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo (Region 9) – Lethem Passport Office
  • Essequibo Islands-West Demerara (Region 3) – Government Service Center Leonora
  • Pomeroon-Supenaam (Region 2) – Government Service Center Anna Regina
  • Mahaica-Berbice (Region 5) – Government Service Center Fort Wellington

It is important to note that the Saturday service is exclusively for the issuance and collection of passports for individuals whose processing dates have already passed. New passport applications, renewals, or first-time submissions will not be accepted during these Saturday hours. Citizens wishing to apply for new passports should use the standard Monday-to-Friday schedule.
