Guyana: Oko West Gold Project: Over 900 Guyanese Part of G Mining Ventures’ Workforce

The Oko West Gold Project, situated in Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) of Guyana, has employed over 900 individuals from the local community as part of its workforce of 1,100, according to G Mining Ventures (GMIN), a Canadian-based gold mining company. The project is currently in the construction phase, with the company aiming to complete these works by the third quarter of 2024.

G Mining Ventures has highlighted its commitment to local hiring as a key aspect of its operational strategy, which is designed to contribute to the economic development of the region. The Oko West Gold Project is anticipated to have a significant impact on the local economy by providing job opportunities and supporting ancillary services in the area.

As construction progresses, G Mining Ventures is focused on adhering to environmental and safety standards while working towards the project’s completion. The involvement of a predominantly local workforce reflects the company’s efforts to engage with the community and enhance the benefits of the mining operation for the residents of Guyana.

Further updates regarding the project’s development and its effects on the local economy are expected as construction continues. The company aims to maintain transparency and keep the community informed about the progress and potential benefits of the Oko West Gold Project.
