Eli Zakour has been officially assigned the responsibility of overseeing Caribbean Airlines Limited, as per an order issued by Christine Carla Kangaloo on April 2, 2026. This move comes at the recommendation of Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and was documented in an Extraordinary issue of the Trinidad and Tobago Gazette.
The reassignment places Caribbean Airlines directly under the purview of the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, which Zakour already heads. This added responsibility includes oversight of civil aviation, air service agreements, airports, and various transportation management tasks.
In addition to Caribbean Airlines, the ministry also manages other significant state entities such as the Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago and the Public Transport Service Corporation. The consolidation of these aviation-related duties is part of a broader initiative intended to enhance coordination and operational efficiency across the sector.
With this reassignment, Caribbean Airlines Limited will now operate alongside National Helicopter Services Limited as part of the majority state-owned enterprises under the Transport Ministry. This strategic shift is expected to streamline operations and improve service delivery within the aviation industry in Trinidad and Tobago.
