Armed Gang Robs Cargo Vessel at Port of Spain Waterfront, Sparking Security Concerns

Late on Sunday night, April 12, 2026, a shocking armed robbery took place on the cargo vessel Sea Elizabeth II, moored at the Port of Spain Waterfront. Reports indicate that a group of about 12 men, armed with firearms, axes, and cutlasses, launched a coordinated assault, boarding the ship and overpowering the crew members onboard.

Among the crew targeted during this brazen attack were Captain Lomo De Couteau of Grenada, shipmate Alpheus Jordan of St. Vincent, and Trinidadian national Stephen Modeste. These men were robbed of their personal belongings in the ordeal, however, the total value of the stolen items remains unknown at this time.

Following their assault, the perpetrators fled the scene, leaving behind a shaken crew and a plethora of questions. This incident has sent shockwaves through the maritime and shipping community, raising serious concerns around the security measures and surveillance coverage at major port facilities during late-night hours.
