Roger Alexander Urges Citizens to Spread Light and Help Others in His Divali Message

Minister of Homeland Security and Member of Parliament for Tunapuna, Roger Alexander, has called on citizens to embrace the true meaning of Divali by spreading kindness, guiding others and helping to build a brighter future for the nation's children.

In his Divali message to Trinidad and Tobago, particularly residents of the Tunapuna constituency, Alexander encouraged citizens to look beyond the traditional celebration of lights and reflect on how its message can positively influence their everyday lives.

"As we celebrate the festival of light, let's use the light to guide us. Let's put that light in our hands and help guide others," Alexander said.

The minister emphasised that the significance of Divali should extend beyond personal celebrations, encouraging people to share hope, motivation and support with those around them.

"Don't just use the light for yourself. Help others, guide them, motivate them," he urged.

Alexander placed particular emphasis on the younger generation, encouraging citizens to use the symbolic light of Divali to inspire children and help guide them towards a progressive future.

His message also highlighted the traditional significance of Divali as a celebration of the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.

"It's about light over darkness and good over evil. Let's show the good in all of us," Alexander declared.

The Tunapuna MP's message centred on the importance of community responsibility, reminding citizens that the values associated with Divali can be demonstrated through simple acts of kindness, encouragement and assistance to others.

Rather than focusing solely on the festivities, Alexander encouraged residents to carry the spirit of Divali into their interactions with families, neighbours and communities.

He concluded by extending Divali greetings to citizens across Trinidad and Tobago, with special recognition of the people of Tunapuna.

His message was a reminder that the light celebrated during Divali can also symbolise the positive influence individuals have on the lives of others, particularly the next generation.
