Alex Ferguson face o confidență: „Dacă soția mea nu era acolo, Arbitrul din Ceruri ar fi putut să fluiere finalul meciului pentru mine”

Sir Alex Ferguson, the legendary former manager of Manchester United, has detailed the life-threatening brain hemorrhage he suffered in May 2018 in his new autobiography, “Games of My Life.” In the book, Ferguson credits his wife, Cathy, with saving his life during the medical emergency. Recounting the events of May 5, 2018, Ferguson described waking up at approximately 7:00 a.m. with an intense headache that had persisted throughout the night. He collapsed near a shoe rack at his home and did not regain consciousness until 24 hours later at the Salford Royal Hospital. Ferguson noted that medical statistics suggest between 75 and 85 percent of individuals over the age of 60 do not survive such an episode. Ferguson attributed his survival to his wife, who was on the ground floor of their home when she heard the sound of shoes falling from the rack upstairs. “If she hadn’t been there, the Referee in the Sky could very well have blown the final whistle for me,” Ferguson wrote. Following a lengthy recovery period, Ferguson made his return to Old Trafford on September 22, 2018. Reflecting on that day, he described the reception from the fans as a profound experience, stating it meant more to him than any other moment in his career, including his time at Aberdeen, his numerous trophy parades, or his final match as a manager. “It was as if I had returned from the dead,” he remarked. Born on December 31, 1941, in Scotland, Ferguson enjoyed a playing career as a forward for clubs including Rangers. He later achieved significant success as a manager, first at Aberdeen and subsequently at Manchester United. During his 26-year tenure at Manchester United, he oversaw more than 1,000 matches, becoming the club’s longest-serving manager and winning more trophies than any other coach in English football history.
