Central Romana firma acuerdo para fortalecer operaciones de puerto base y conectividad aérea

Central Romana Corporation, Ltd. announced that it has entered into a strategic alliance with AIDA Cruises and Costa Cruises, both subsidiaries of Carnival Corporation Ltd., during the World Travel Market (WTM) trade fair in London, England. The agreement is intended to strengthen La Romana’s position as a key Caribbean cruise hub, providing long‑term operational and commercial certainty for ship schedules, international flights and infrastructure development. Central Romana owns and operates both the La Romana International Airport and the La Romana Cruise Port, offering an integrated “fly‑and‑cruise” platform that facilitates coordination of itineraries, air connectivity and passenger transfers. The partnership builds on 30 years of cooperation with Costa Cruises, which began in Catalina Island in 1996, and 23 years of collaboration with AIDA Cruises, which established La Romana as a Caribbean home port in 2003. Luis Emilio Rodríguez Amiama, director of the airport and cruise port, said: “This agreement represents an important milestone in our long‑standing relationship. The reciprocal commitments strengthen La Romana as a strategic home port and integrated operations centre for cruises and international flights, boosting passenger and flight growth and creating new opportunities for the Dominican Republic.” Anika Birkholz, vice‑president of Revenue and Capacity Management at AIDA Cruises, added: “Our partnership with Central Romana has been essential to developing La Romana as a major Caribbean home port. The agreement provides the certainty and guarantees needed to support the continued growth of AIDA Cruises and Costa Cruises, ensuring reliable operations and an excellent guest experience.” The deal was formalised in the presence of Dominican Republic Tourism Minister David Collado, who praised the alliance. “This agreement reflects the confidence of major international cruise operators in the Dominican Republic,” Collado said. “It strengthens international connectivity, supports sustainable tourism development and creates new economic opportunities for La Romana and the country.” Central Romana Corporation, Ltd. is a century‑old Dominican company based in La Romana. The firm has a long history in agro‑industrial, tourism and service sectors and pioneered real‑estate tourism development in the country. Notable projects include Casa de Campo Resort & Villas, Altos de Chavón and the Casa de Campo Marina, one of the Caribbean’s leading superyacht destinations. Through its integrated hospitality and transport infrastructure, Central Romana has helped position La Romana as an internationally recognised tourist destination, driving connectivity, investment and economic development in the Dominican Republic.
