Roadwork on the Azua‑Peralta Highway Advances with Arrival of Machinery The arrival of heavy equipment in the municipality of Peralta has raised expectations among residents for the start of asphalt work on the Azua‑Peralta highway. The project, which has been requested by local residents and nearby communities, aims to improve a key transportation corridor used for passenger travel, agricultural products, and other goods. The presence of the machinery marks a tangible step toward the execution of the road rehabilitation, following efforts by provincial and national authorities. Officials involved in the project include provincial governor María Minerva Navarro, senator Lía Díaz, deputy Víctor Sánchez Féliz, Oliver Nazario Brugal, and Minister of Public Works and Communications Eduardo Estrella. A message released after the equipment arrived emphasized the importance of turning prior discussions into concrete action. “We have only talked about the arrangements; the real question is when the work begins. Here is what we promised and negotiated with other provincial and national authorities,” the message read. The highway’s improvement is considered essential for strengthening the connection between Peralta and the city of Azua. Residents anticipate that the roadwork will facilitate movement for inhabitants and support the economic activities of the communities that rely on this land route. At present, no official start date or completion timeline has been announced. The focus of the local population remains on the commencement of the asphalting work and its continuation until the highway’s rehabilitation is finished.
