Female Motorist Praises Four IATF Officers Who Stopped to Help Her on Busy Highway

Keia Black says the officers went above and beyond after her vehicle's rear bumper became detached, leaving her stranded along the roadway.

A Trinidad and Tobago motorist has publicly praised four officers attached to the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) in Aranguez after they stopped to assist her when her vehicle developed a problem along a busy highway.

Keia Black shared her appreciation in a heartfelt social media post, recounting how her vehicle's rear bumper became partially detached and began dragging along the roadway shortly after 2:30 p.m. last Thursday.

According to Black, two observant motorists were the first to alert her that something was wrong.

The drivers of a white Hilux or Frontier and a green MTS or corporation truck flashed their lights to get her attention before slowing down to allow her to safely pull onto the highway shoulder.

While she was attempting to deal with the damaged bumper, PC Edwards and Superintendent Ramsaroop of the IATF Aranguez stopped to offer assistance.

PC Edwards reportedly attempted a temporary repair while Superintendent Ramsaroop contacted other officers for additional assistance.

Rather than leaving the motorist to manage the situation alone, both officers remained with her until Sergeant Gordon and PC Thompson arrived with tools to help address the problem.

Photographs shared by Black show officers working around the rear of her blue vehicle, examining the damaged bumper and attempting to secure it.

Black said their actions meant a great deal to her, particularly because she was a woman alone on the shoulder of a busy highway.

"As a female motorist alone on the shoulder of a busy highway, I truly appreciated their kindness and willingness to help," she wrote.

She also used the experience to highlight the importance of recognising positive police conduct, arguing that officers who go beyond their responsibilities deserve public appreciation.

"Just as officers should be held accountable when they fall short, they deserve recognition when they go above and beyond."

Black extended her gratitude to all four officers, including Superintendent Ramsaroop, whom she was unable to photograph.

She also thanked the two motorists who initially alerted her to the problem and expressed gratitude to God for her protection.

"They didn't have to stop or stay, but they did. Thank you, gentlemen!" she wrote.

Her account offers a welcome example of community assistance and highlights how small acts of kindness by law enforcement officers can make a meaningful difference to citizens facing unexpected difficulties.
