Police are investigating three robberies in St James and Woodbrook in which victims were stripped of chains, pendants and a bracelet, according to the Trinidad Express. In one incident, a 72-year-old woman was robbed after buying medication at St James Pharmacy on Monday morning. Police said she was getting into her Nissan X-Trail at about 11.45am when a man approached from behind and grabbed around her neck. The man warned her against making noise before pulling off two gold chains and their pendants. She subsequently realised that her gold bracelet was also missing. The robber escaped along Western Main Road near Lucknow Street. About 15 minutes earlier, a 45-year-old man was robbed while walking along Benares Street, St James. He told police that someone tugged at his shirt before attempting to pull away his 18-karat gold chain, valued at $1,200. A struggle followed, and the victim lost his balance and was pinned to the ground. Police said the attacker called to another man nearby, asking him to bring a firearm. The report did not say that a firearm was produced. The attacker took the chain and escaped in a waiting white Toyota Aqua. He was described as approximately six feet tall, slim, with plaits at the sides of his face, and wearing black clothing and slippers. In the Woodbrook incident, a woman was walking with a colleague after buying food at Yousef’s Gyro shortly after midnight on Saturday. As they approached her car at Murray Street and Ariapita Avenue, a man grabbed a gold-coloured chain and dollar-sign pendant from her neck and pushed her to the ground. The jewellery was valued at $15,000. The suspect ran across Ariapita Avenue and entered a silver AD Wagon. The three incidents remain under police investigation, according to the report.
