Trinidadian honours grandmother’s memory with milestone in Guyana’s legal profession.

A Trinidadian has achieved a major personal milestone by becoming the first lawyer in his family, choosing an unconventional path that has taken him to Guyana to begin the next chapter of his professional journey.

The newly admitted attorney says his decision to pursue law was inspired by his late grandmother, whose memory continues to motivate him as he establishes himself in the legal profession.

Unlike many Trinidadian law graduates who seek admission to practise in their home country first, he chose to pursue admission in Guyana, where he intends to relocate and practise full-time.

Sharing his achievement with TG News, the young attorney explained that becoming a lawyer represents far more than obtaining a professional qualification.

“I am a first generation lawyer. I have chosen an unusual path by coming to Guyana to be admitted before my own home country of Trinidad and Tobago,” he stated.

He also confirmed his intention to establish his professional career in Guyana.

“I intend to move to Guyana and practice full time here,” he said.

A Dream Inspired by His Grandmother

Behind the achievement is a deeply personal motivation.

The attorney revealed that his late grandmother was the inspiration behind his decision to enter the legal profession.

Although he did not elaborate on the circumstances surrounding her influence, his tribute suggests that her memory remains an important part of his journey.

As the first lawyer in his family, his accomplishment also represents a new chapter in his family’s history.

Photographs shared with TG News capture moments surrounding his admission, including his participation in formal court proceedings, signing documents and posing in his legal attire alongside other members of the profession.

Choosing Guyana Over Trinidad and Tobago

His decision to seek admission in Guyana before Trinidad and Tobago is a distinctive part of his story.

Rather than immediately pursuing a legal career at home, he has identified Guyana as the country where he wants to establish his practice.

The decision reflects the opportunities available to Caribbean professionals who choose to build careers beyond their countries of birth.

For this young Trinidadian, Guyana is not simply the location of an important professional ceremony, but the place where he hopes to develop his future in law.

His achievement is also a reminder that the path to professional success does not always have to follow the traditional route.

With his grandmother’s memory serving as a source of inspiration, the first-generation attorney now looks towards establishing himself in Guyana’s legal community.

His story highlights the significance of family influence, personal ambition and the determination to pursue opportunities beyond familiar surroundings.
