Gerardo Segundo, a 21‑year‑old jailer for the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, has been charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated (DWI) and placed on administrative leave following a crash that occurred early Sunday morning. Segundo, who has worked for the sheriff’s office for three years, is accused of operating a vehicle with blinding headlights and revving the engine before the collision that woke Alfonso Pineda and his family at approximately 1:50 a.m. in the Humble area. Surveillance footage from the scene shows the vehicle’s headlights shining brightly, the engine revving, and the subsequent impact. More than a day after the incident, debris from the pickup truck involved in the crash remained scattered outside Pineda’s home. Authorities have not released additional details about injuries or property damage.
