Masqat – The Global Forum for Women has announced that Salma bint Ali Al Hashimi, deputy president for marketing at Al Muwajh Muscat, has been selected for its 2026‑2027 Leadership Fellowship. Al Hashimi is the first woman from Oman and the Gulf region to win a seat in the program since its inception in 1994. The Forum’s selection process is highly selective, accepting no more than 10 % of applicants. Each year it attracts up to 50 global leaders from entrepreneurship, senior government posts and civil‑society organisations. Alumni have gone on to hold senior positions worldwide, including Lina Naier, global chief executive of Chanel; Vanessa White, director of the Johnson Space Center at NASA; and Vivian Mino, former Ecuadorian Minister of Communications and Information Technology. Al Hashimi will begin her fellowship with the new cohort at an introductory meeting scheduled for October 2026 in Mexico City. She will join other leaders in sharing Omani and Gulf perspectives within the Forum’s high‑level network. In addition to her executive role at Al Muwajh Muscat, Al Hashimi serves on several boards and leadership platforms, including Mazoon Dairy, the UNICEF Business Leadership Council in Oman, and the Oman‑Italian Friendship Association. She also chaired the technical team for Oman’s unified promotional national identity project, a role that helped raise the country’s international profile. Al Hashimi is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Management. Fatiha bint Abdullah Al Rashidiyah, assistant president for program affairs at the Royal Academy of Management, said: “Salma bint Ali Al Hashimi is a graduate of our Academy, and her selection as the first Omani and Gulf leader in this global program is a source of pride. It reflects the quality of our national outputs and embodies the Academy’s mission to build leaders capable of making a tangible impact on the world stage. This achievement gives Omani leaders the opportunity to contribute actively to global networks, acquire modern knowledge and support sustainable development and institutional transformation in Oman.” Al Hashimi added: “Being chosen as the first Omani and Gulf leader in this program is a great honour and a valuable opportunity to bring Omani and Gulf voices to international leadership platforms. I look forward to learning from my cohort and former alumni, building a broad network across sectors and countries, and transferring the knowledge and experience gained back to Oman. Through the program’s ‘Academic and Professional Impact’ project, I also aim to open the network to more Omani women, providing a mentorship channel that connects them with the Forum’s global alumni.” Article source: Al Rroya | Image credit: Al Rroya
