Sinner torna in campo con Cahill e prepara il rientro. Intanto tifa per l’amico Kimi

Jannik Sinner has returned to training in Monte Carlo with his long‑time coach Darren Cahill, signalling a fresh start after a knee injury that sidelined him for most of the second half of the 2024 season. The 25‑year‑old Italian, who hails from Sesto Pusteria, last played a match on 12 July 2024, when he won the Wimbledon final against a German opponent. After the tournament he was forced to miss the remainder of the season because of a problem with his right knee. Specialists advised rest, and Sinner spent several months away from the court. Sources close to the player say that the absence from training had taken a toll on his mental game, but the return to the Monte Carlo club has given him a new sense of momentum. “He’s a perfectionist and the time away was hard for him,” one insider said. “Now he’s back with Cahill, and that’s a good sign for the coming season.” Sinner has confirmed that he will compete in the One Point Slam, a pro‑am event that precedes the Australian Open, and he has also announced his participation in the Six Kings Slam, a high‑profile exhibition tournament in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The event, which was postponed to the end of December because of the war in the region, was highlighted in a post on Sinner’s X account and in his Instagram stories, where he shared the tournament’s poster and a sketch of himself in the event’s logo. In addition to his tennis plans, Sinner has been publicly supporting his friend Kimi Antonelli, the Italian Formula 1 driver. After Antonelli’s victory at the Austin race, which effectively secured the championship, Sinner posted a congratulatory message on X: “Congratulazioni per un’altra vittoria Kimi, fortissimo,” accompanied by a heart emoji. Sinner’s return comes at a time when the world rankings are poised for change. Alexander Zverev is expected to reach the top spot if he reaches the quarter‑finals of the Vienna 500, and Sinner’s performance in the upcoming tournaments will be closely watched. He has expressed a goal of competing at Roland Garros, the French Open, which remains his next major target.
